| Welcome to Delta Windsurf Company! |
Delta Windsurf Company
The Delta Windsurf Co. has been in operation since 1992. Located minutes away from one of the best windsurfing and kiting sites in all of America, the Delta Windsurf Co. has been able to lure the expertise of a staff far beyond the level of any other mainland windsurfing shop. They not only know how to help you choose the right gear for you, but can explain the subtle differences in equipment design so you know why it is the best for you. Every member of our staff has the experience of at least twenty years of windsurfing as well as knowledge gained from being an ABK instructor and competitor. Two of our staff members are also major parts of magazine equipment tests allowing them to sail a phenomenal amount of the latest gear. Check out our bios. In the past two years we have begun to get involved with kitesurfing as well. We are slowly establishing ourselves with the same skills in kiting as we have in windsurfing. With Derek working for Windsport magazine he gets to keep up on the latest and greatest in kiting as he is good friends with the Kiteboarding magazine staff and has their knowledge to help in understanding the new directions of the sport. Todd has taken to the kite over the past year and his knowledge of sailboat rigging has helped immensely when trying to repair or "clean up" various line and leash systems for customers. When choosing the Delta Windsurf Co. to make your purchases you will be getting advice from the most knowledgeable people you will find in the sport. Check out our credentials.
OUR STAFF
Derek Rijff
After sailing small sailboats for a number of years Derek was introduced to windsurfing in 1981. Two years later he saved up enough money from a newspaper route to buy his first shortboard. In the twenty years since then he has bought a few more boards, and his sailing has progressed to the point were he can now get these boards to do some pretty amazing things. Along the way he also accumulated a wealth of knowledge working for ABK Sports and Windsport magazine. Derek began working for ABK six years ago taking the reins as head instructor for two years before joining the Delta Windsurf Co. He continues to work with them in winter months helping out at the Caribbean and Texas clinics. With Windsport magazine Derek is a regular contributor to the instructional team and is also the head tester for the yearly equipment tests. As head tester he gets to sail numerous boards and sails from every manufacturer and along with the rest of his team find the niche that each board fills. Working with Windsport gave Derek the opportunity to begin kiting four years ago, and he has continued to recreationally pursue the sport since then. In the upcoming year Derek will also be seeing if he can spin up some magic in freestyle competition competing in the King of the Bay and possibly the Gorge Games.
